Anna Farley is Humber Street Gallery’s Artist In Residence with the Friends of Alderman Kneeshaw (FOAK), which is a fantastic place-based community organisation on Bilton Grange.
We’d got to know the residents and dedicated volunteers at FOAK, who just have so much passion and enthusiasm for bringing new life to their beloved Park. Around about the same time I’d met Anna at a workshop at the Gallery, and quickly realised that they had equal amounts of passion about inclusivity and accessibility through art.
We were keen to work with both FOAK and Anna and uniting them with each other when the opportunity arose made sense not just logically but, perhaps more importantly, creatively.
Anna’s 12-month residency started in July 2025. What we’ve observed is clearly a perfect combination of artist, place and people. Anna’s practice sees them take a considered approach to understanding what a place and its people are all about. We’ve had so much wonderful feedback already, there’s a real sense that FOAK and Anna are absolutely in tune with each other, and we’re really looking forward to what will materialise over the coming months.
