Launch event – SET Film Festival: Liquid Love
SET Film Festival’s first programme at Humber Street Gallery begins with the River Humber. As a port city, Hull has been shaped by water for centuries: through trade, migration and the movement of people, goods and ideas across the North Sea and beyond.
Bringing together artist moving image, documentary and narrative film, Liquid Love explores the different ways water connects us and carries traces of the past. Across the programme, rivers, oceans and coastlines become sites where histories of empire and migration resurface, while rising tides and submerged landscapes prompt reflection on the futures being shaped in our present.
Moving between the Atlantic, the Tanzanian coast and the lost terrain of Doggerland, these films consider how water can hold and activate memory, linking intimate personal experiences to larger historical forces.
About SET Film Festival
SET Film Festival is an independent grassroots festival for contemporary, artist, and archival film, run by SET, a London-based arts organisation and registered charity. Founded in 2023, the festival has developed into an international platform for experimental practices, emerging voices and artists’ moving image that sits outside conventional exhibition and distribution contexts.
Held every November at SET Social in Peckham, the festival unfolds across a month of weekly film nights, including a short film programme, a feature presentation and a free archival film and performance night. This year, the festival will run from 5 November to 3 December 2026.

About SET
SET is a London-based contemporary arts charity transforming vacant buildings into spaces for experimental culture and community. Since 2016, it has grown into series of city-wide centres supporting nearly 1,000 artists with some of the city’s most affordable studios. Accessibility
Is Humber Street Gallery wheelchair accessible?
Yes. You can access every part of the gallery without steps. The entrance is level with the street, and there’s a lift to all floors, including the rooftop.
Do you have accessible toilets?
Yes. We have one all-gender accessible toilet on the ground floor with grab rails and emergency pull cords.
Can I bring my assistance dog?
Absolutely. We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and other trained assistance animals throughout the building.
Do you provide large print or accessible exhibition guides?
Yes. We offer large print as standard and Dyslexia-friendly versions of exhibition texts. You can pick them up in the gallery or download them from the exhibition pages of our website.
Is there somewhere quiet I can go if I need a break?
We know the gallery can sometimes feel busy or overwhelming. Ask a member of staff and we’ll help you find a quieter space to take a moment.
Do you offer sensory-friendly experiences?
Some exhibitions include sensory content and we have regular quiet hours. We also have ear defenders available to borrow at the front desk. If you need anything specific, get in touch before your visit. You can find details of our noisy and quiet hours at the top of this page.
Is there Blue Badge parking nearby?
Yes. There are Blue Badge parking bays on Humber Street and surrounding roads, just a short distance from the gallery.
