Creative adventures for all the family
At Humber Street Gallery, we believe creativity starts young and never stops. Our family programmes are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and help children explore the world through art. From sensory play to hands-on workshops and teenage art clubs, there is something for every stage. You can also check our What’s On page to see family-friendly events across our wider programme, plus details of our regular noisy and quiet hours
What we offer
Early Bods (0-5 years)
Early Bods is our sensory learning programme for little artists. Through playful activities and specially designed resources, children explore movement, touch, sound, sight and making in a fun, welcoming setting. It is a chance for the very youngest gallery-goers to discover creativity in ways that are joyful and engaging. Parents and carers are encouraged to join in too, making Early Bods a lively, shared experience.
Arty Bods (5-11 years)
Arty Bods workshops give primary-aged children the chance to dive into materials, ideas and techniques with practising artists. Inspired by our exhibition programme, sessions are designed to encourage creative confidence, imagination and problem-solving. Children are supported to experiment, play and learn in a gallery environment that celebrates curiosity. Each workshop offers something new, whether that’s trying out unusual materials, exploring fresh approaches to making, or simply creating something brilliant to take home and be proud of.
Bod Squad (12-16 years)
Bod Squad is where young people take creativity to the next level. These sessions provide opportunities to explore new techniques and materials, connect with professional artists and reflect on their own work. Participants are encouraged to analyse and discuss ideas, developing a deeper understanding of art and how to talk about it. Over time, this progression builds skills, confidence and a sense of ownership. Whether you are thinking about studying art further or just want a space to be creative, Bod Squad is a place to grow.
Families at Humber Street Gallery
We want Humber Street Gallery to feel like a welcoming home for families. Our building and programme are designed to make creativity accessible, inclusive and fun for all ages. From Early Bods to Bod Squad, we create opportunities for children to engage with art in ways that are right for them. We believe that introducing art early in life helps children develop skills, confidence and curiosity that will stay with them as they grow. Whether visiting for a workshop or exploring an exhibition, families are always part of what we do.
