What information do we gather and track, and what do we do with it?

Hotjar

Our site currently uses Hotjar to better understand our users’ needs and to optimise this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behaviour and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymised user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

Information gathered on registration

In certain parts of the website, viewers are able to register to gain more information. Our registration forms request that you give us certain information which personally identifies you should you wish to receive email updates, and/or activities.

From time to time, we will also collect medical / emergency contact information for those relevant events and activities.

If you register to join our email lists we will use the information that you provide to us to notify you of topics you have subscribed to receive under the ‘Legitimate Interest’ basis of GDPR as well as the ‘Soft Opt-In’ basis of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)

As part of our commitment to safety and security, Humber Street Gallery operates a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system across our gallery and bar premises.
For the purposes of data protection laws, the Data Controller is Absolutely Cultured Limited (trading as Humber Street Gallery).
Why We Collect This Data
We process CCTV images under the lawful basis of Legitimate Interests. Our specific interests are maintaining the safety and security of our visitors, staff, and artists; protecting the artwork on display; and preventing or detecting crime.
Data Retention & Access
Images are automatically overwritten after 30 days, unless required for an ongoing legal or insurance investigation. Footage is stored securely, access is strictly restricted, and we will never share this footage with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to request access to CCTV images of yourself. To make a Subject Access Request, please contact us at info@humberstreetgallery.co.uk or call 01482 692285 with the specific date, time, and location of your visit.
